STYLISH BLOG AWARD

Thanks to Gina over at http://ginasgorillaspeak.blogspot.com, has given me the Stylish Blogger Award!
As part of this award I have to list  8 things about myself and pass it on to 8 other bloggers. So here it goes!

1. I LOVE animals especially my chihuahua babies, my one pit bull  and goats :)
2. I LOVE my family --- to the extent that I can be your best friend or your worst enemy---lol ;)
3. I LOVE the color red, it is my all time favorite followed by blue and green.
4. I am very straight forward or "BLUNT" as my mom would say.
5. I spend way too much time online. This includes sites such as facebook, ebay, blogger, my email  sites, pogo(my id is bambina2005 if any other play games there), youtube and more!
6. I love to take pictures. I recently bought a new Nikon D3000 SLR camera and love it just havent gotten around to taking alot of shots with it yet. Still playing around with it and figuring out how to use it.
7. I dont always finish things I start. Probably a lack of motivation, as I tend to get bored easily.
8. Last but not least I LOVE crafting!!!

So now its time for me to pass this award on to 8 other bloggers but since I am new to blogging and have not visited many sites and have very few followers right now I will have to nominate the 5 bloggers I do follow and most will probably a repeat for the award but here it goes:
1. Gina
2. Dale
4. Tracy aka presentstorm

Also, if anyone should stumble across my page please add me, as I will return the favor and be sure to check out the bloggers I mentioned above!

MUFFIN IN ACTION

FOAMING BATH MUFFINs

Okay, so this is a little different then my bath bombs, I call it a foaming bath muffin. It is pretty much made from the same stuff as my bath bombs except I have added a good bit of soap to the mixture which makes it foam. I will try to get a picture of one in action later...but these were a pain in the butt to make because these require you to check every 30 mins as they swell up like marsh mellows in a microwave and you have to continue to press them down.

OH NO!!

So this is what happens if your frosting is too moist! It runs a little down the sides and because your frosting has water added to it it will make your bath bomb bubble up a little. You can always scrape the extra frosting off but the side of your bath bomb will look all funky like mine. However, I think mine bubbled up a little more than normal because my hands were a little damp from washing some of the frosting off before adding to my bath bombs. For the toppings on these I just used some bath caviar that I had (some crushed and some whole). Will probably be posting my homemade lip balm in the next post.

Bath Bomb Receipe

For base of the bath bomb you will need
3/4 cup baking soda
1/2 cup citric acid
1/4 cup epsom salt (is optional)
2-4 teaspoons of your selected oil (jojoba, sweet almond, grape seed oil, etc)..i used sweet almond oil and vitamin E.
1-2 teaspoons of your selected fragrance oil (make sure it is ok to use on skin) i used chocolate covered strawberries fragrance oil
3-13 drops of your selected soap colorant--wilton icing gel colorant works fine (do not use food coloring or you will end up with a colored tub make sure to use soap coloring)
1/2 teaspoon water
witch hazel in a spay bottle

In a medium size bowl mix together the baking soda, citric acid and epsom salt with a wisk and make sure to get out all the clumps. Then in a separate small bowl mix together your oil, fragrance, water and colorant. (the colorant may not mix in with the oils but will once you add it to your powdered mixture). Next pour your oil/colorant/fragrance mixture into the baking soda mixture and start whisking it asap. You will need to wisk mixture until you can take a clump in your hand and sqeeze it together and it hold its shape. If you need to add a little moisture to get the right consistency spay 3 time with the witch hazel. (in my case I didn't even need the witch hazel). Once you have the mixture moist enough to hold its shape you are ready to line your cupcake pan with liners and pack them with the mixture.( make sure to press mixture down into mold as hard as you can till you get to the top, once at top make sure to mold with your hand the rounded out top of the cupcake) Then set aside to dry and start making your frosting. This recipe yeilds about 2 regular sized cupcake bombs.

For Cup Cake Frosting You Will Need:
1 tsp. cream of tartar
2 tsp. meringue powder
your choice of soap colorant (in my case i just used 2 tsp cocoa powder)
1-2 tsp fragrance oil (optional-i used vanilla)
1-3 tsp water (you may need more or less depending on consistency you want to work with)
1/4 cup powdered sugar (you may need more or less depending on consistency you want to work with)

In a bowl start out by first mixing the cream of tartar, meringue powder, 1tsp water together until it forms a paste (add more water if needed to achieve your paste). Once you have your paste add in your powdered sugar, fragrance and soap colorant and mix together until you get an icing like consistency (add water/powdered sugar until its how you want it).

Now slowly and gently remove your base of the bath bombs from the cupcake pans, ice them and add toppings of your choice. I used a simple heart candy to top mine. Let them set for 12-24hrs before packaging and/or using them.

Tip: Use cake tips to add icing to cupcakes--makes it alot easier :)
Tip 2: if using glitter make sure you use cosmetic glitter only

Yummy Bath Bomb

Here is a chocolate covered strawberry scented bath bomb I made tonight. It is 100% all natural handmade by me. For the base I used baking soda, citric acid, epsom salt, pink gel food coloring, sweet almond oil, vitamin E gel caps, and chocolate covered strawberries fragrance. Then for the icing I used cream of tartar, cocoa powder, vanilla flavoring for scent, a little warm water, meringue powder and a candy piece to top it off! It smells good enough to eat!

Then before getting started the next morning I rinsed off the brine mixture stuffed it with carrots, celery, onions, one sprig of thyme, some chopped bay leaf and then basted it with  little white wine and butter.
